This is a bitmap image format that was created by the MacPaint graphics program used on Apple Macintosh computers. The MAC format supported the display of only two colors, including a pattern palette. It was used by Macintosh graphics editors to store black-and-white graphics. The maximum image size was 576×720.

JIF is a lossy format used for digital photography that was developed by JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). Despite the fact that It is not limited to a certain number of colors and is based on a 24-bit color palette, part of the information is lost during compression.
